Updated: Apr 9

Hello, intrepid explorers! Have you decided to travel to Latvia? If you're wondering how to land in the Baltic gem, aka Riga, from Europe, you're in the right place. Hold on tight, as we're going to explore the coolest options to make your journey as amazing as the city itself. Your trip to Latvia will require arranging a means of transportation to get there.

1. SKY-HIGH JETSETTER STYLE

Are you the "let's get straight to it" type? Take a direct flight to Riga International Airport (RIX)! Airlines like Air Baltic, Ryanair, and Lufthansa offer direct flights from major cities in Europe. Put on your sunglasses if it's summer; otherwise, you'll forget, sit back, and get ready for takeoff towards the Latvian capital. Book your tickets directly on the airlines' websites to find the best deals!

AND HOW DO I GET FROM THE AIRPORT?

By Taxi : The cost of a taxi from Riga International Airport (RIX) to the city center generally varies between 15 and 25 euros, depending on traffic and the specific destination. Official taxis are available at the airport exit. Make sure to get into a regular taxi with a functional meter. Ask the driver for an estimate before getting on board.

By Bus : Economical and super friendly, the bus is your travel buddy if you're looking to save a few euros to spend on souvenirs (or local treats). To reach the city center from the airport by bus, use line 22. The journey takes about 30 minutes, and the ticket price is approximately 2.00 euros. Bus stops are well marked at the airport, and line 22 will drop you off at the central station, from where you can explore the city at your own pace.

2. THE RAIL ADVENTURE

If you prefer adventure, hop on the train! Railway connections from European cities such as Warsaw, Moscow, and Tallinn will take you to Riga's central station. Train tickets are available on the websites of Baltic railway companies like Latvian Railways - be sure to book in advance to secure your spot on board!
